About me

Hello, my name is Gunnhildur Björg Baldursdóttir and I am a recent B.A. graduate in Journalism (with a minor in Psychology) from Youngstown State University, where I studied on an athletic scholarship for competitive swimming. My background in high-level sports taught me the value of discipline, consistency and long-term commitment. Those are qualities I carry into my professional work.

I have experience across print, digital media and editorial coordination. While studying in the U.S., I worked as a reporter for the school paper, The Jambar, where I gained strong skills in writing, interviewing and multimedia storytelling. After moving back to Iceland, I have worked within established media environments such as Árvakur (mbl) and Birtingur.

In my current role at Birtingur, I manage the magazines Hús og híbýli and Gestgjafinn. My work includes editorial planning and production, social media and website management, photoshoot styling, and communication with contributors and interviewees.

I also have experience in marketing and content creation, after a impactful summer job at Markaðsstofa Reykjaness. During that time, I handled website content and news releases during a particularly eventful period marked by volcanic activity in the region.

Driven by curiosity, creativity and strong interpersonal skills, I thrive in collaborative environments and love working with stories, whether written, visual or community-focused.

My hobbies are painting, hiking, photography, cycling, being with friends and traveling.

About my page

I  wanted to create a place where I can share my work with anyone who is also building a career in the media industry, who needs inspiration or who wants to follow my professional journey. On this page, I will share my latest publications, projects and photography. I am excited to have you here!
